How to maintain business records you can actually explain.
A useful record answers who, what, when, how much, and whether money moved. Decorative registers that nobody reconciles are worse than a short notebook that is checked daily.
Write the event, not a summary
Each sale, purchase, receipt, payment and expense is its own line. Summaries come later. If you only write “today ₹10,000” you cannot investigate tomorrow.
Keep opening balances honest
When moving from a notebook, agree what each customer and supplier already owes. Do not re-enter old bills as new transactions if their value is already in that opening figure.
Retain evidence
Keep supplier bills, UPI references and rough counter notes until the day has been reviewed. Software does not replace that habit.
Common Questions

Do I need accounting knowledge to keep business records?
No. You need complete events, consistent names, and a daily check. Accounting knowledge is needed for statutory books and tax, which this guide does not replace.

No. Udhyami (with an h) is a ManTech Studio business-management product for everyday sales, purchases, stock and money records. It is not the Government of India Udyam registration portal and does not issue Udyam certificates.
