Guide

How to manage a small business without learning accounting first.

Most small businesses in India already manage work — in a notebook, WhatsApp, Excel, or memory. This guide turns that into five jobs you can keep every day. Udhyami is one way to keep them; the method works on paper too.

1. Sell

Write what went out, the amount, and whether money came in. If the customer will pay later, write the name and the remaining due.

2. Buy

Write what came in, from whom, and whether you paid. A later payment to the same supplier is not another purchase.

3. Stock

Count what matters weekly. Fast-moving items deserve a daily glance. Investigate differences instead of silently changing the number.

4. Money

Separate today’s sales from cash collected (which may include old dues) and from expenses (rent, transport).

5. Review

At day’s end ask: kitna bika, kitna aaya, kisko dena hai, kisko lena hai? If the answers need a CA vocabulary, the record is too complicated for daily use.

Common Questions

Questions people actually ask

What is the easiest way to manage a small Indian business without accounting?
Keep five daily jobs: sales, purchases, stock, money, and a short review. Use names and amounts, not debit-credit. Software helps only if the same discipline exists on paper.
Is Udhyami the same as Udyam MSME registration?
No. Udhyami (with an h) is a ManTech Studio business-management product for everyday sales, purchases, stock and money records. It is not the Government of India Udyam registration portal and does not issue Udyam certificates.
Can I start using Udhyami today without talking to the team?
Udhyami is in a closed beta. Request access from the contact page. The team confirms which workflows are available for your business before onboarding. Requesting access is not a paid subscription.
